DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. could reclaim its place from Toyota Motor Corp. as the No. 2 automaker in the United States for the first time since 2007, according to Edmunds.com's revised sales forecast for this year.

Toyota chief plans U.S. trip as Congress seeks answers

Toyota today said its embattled head, Akio Toyoda, plans a U.S. trip early next month but would not confirm whether he would attend congressional hearings probing the automaker's safety recalls. U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, the top Republican on the House oversight and government committee, is pressing his case to get Toyoda to testify before a congressional committee, saying he would support a subpoena to force his appearance.

Toyota hit by over 100 Prius brake complaints

TOKYO – Toyota Motor Corp. has been hit by over 100 complaints in the U.S. and Japan about brake problems with the popular Prius hybrid, the latest in a spate of quality troubles for the automaker as it grapples with massive global recalls.
